Rev. Fr. Damiano Chitha, the parish priest of the Holy Rosary-Likuni parish in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, has advised followers to use social media and other communication platforms responsibly.

Additionally, Chitha, a Diocesan Priest, has urged them to desist from using provocative language that could incite violence in their various communities, particularly as the nation prepares for the general elections in 2025.

He was speaking on Sunday at the parish during the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Catholic church’s liturgical year.

However, Fr. Chitha urged the Christians to go in large numbers to register in order to have a chance to vote in the next year's elections.

"Whether you're happy or you’re not happy with what is happening in this country, go and register. If you don't go, you have automatically voted for leaders who are not fit to run this country," he stressed.

He has since asked Christians to be good citizens by not partaking in any kind of violent acts that can destroy the nation.

The parish also used the same event to launch the Catholic Chiefs’ Association, calling on chiefs to be imitators of Christ in their leadership.
